Embittered By The Burdens Of Being is the core ethos that drives this avante-death metal act from Chicago, IL. Founded in 2021 by bassist Austin Smith and guitarist/author/screenwriter A.V. Bach, Embittered incorporates elements of death metal, black metal, doom, and hardcore to create a sound as heavy, punishing, and cosmic as the burdens that drive them.

After releasing their demo “Sibylline Visions of Oracular Decay” in 2022, Embittered was joined by Jason Nitts (Warforged, Spent Case) on drums and Samu Rahn (TerrorDens, Wintering, Cairn) as lead vocalist for their debut full-length. Since recording, drum duties have been filled by Rod Garcia of Carrion Throne. The album also features guest vocals from legendary Chicago vocalist Stavros Giannopoulos (The Atlas Moth, Motherless). Engineered, mixed, and mastered by Spenser Morris (Panopticon, Vukari) at Bricktop Studios in Chicago, IL.

The Archatron comes from Cormac McCarthy, first in Cities of the Plain and again in Stella Maris. His Archatron was then combined with the writings of Jung, Derrida, and the occult to create different iterations of the d(a)emon: a nameless, faceless demon of knowledge, knowledge both good and bad; knowledge of self, of language, of love, heartbreak, pain, death, dreams, war, jealousy, and everything in between.
